Five Ridge Prairie Preserve is located north of Sioux City on Highway 12. Five Ridge and the Adjacent Joy Hollow have over 1000 acres of prairie and woodland. There are a number of trails in the preserve. Most trails are mowed paths or double track with some single track mixed in. The trails are quite hilly and sometimes rugged. The primary parking spot is off Highway 12 but there is access from the end of 260th St as well as at Joy Hollow Scout Camp off Butcher Road.
