August 2008
brought the Summer Olympics and a great opportunity to boost
motivation. I know my television has been tuned in for every
opportunity to watch. It is addicting and I have discovered
myself watching until midnight many nights and dragging the next
morning to get up for work. It has been fun watching especially
after meeting a few of our Olympic hopefuls in person just this
year. I was fortunate to be able to watch the Women’s Olympic
Marathon Trials in Boston and see the Triathlon Olympians
throughout the year as well. They are amazing! Can you
imagine? The challenges, the drive, the intense schedules, the
injuries they face? These are all things we come up against as
well as Missouri River Runners -- but on a smaller scale. How
do you handle all of these obstacles? How do you find the
motivation? I hope you are able dig into your Olympian from
within and reach for your GOLD!
As August draws to a close we are looking forward to our Race
for Hope. This is an amazing event! If you have never done
this one, I encourage you to come out for a great day. It is
beautiful at Adams Nature Preserve and the race provides support
to our very own local cancer center. Jean Gill has done a
fantastic job managing this race for years! I encourage you to
bring your family or invite some friends. You will be glad you
did! I hope to see you there!
Keep on runnin’
